West Midlands Metro

Big, bold, blue and Birmingham

The Midland Metro is the West Midlands sole tram network, and as part of the new TfWM brand livery scheme, I was asked to develop a brand new livery, complimenting other 'modes' but bringing a bright, colourful look to its CAF tram fleet.

A new look for a new beginning

Using my newly design TfWM 'faded diamond' scheme to create a two-tone blue style, the West Midlands Metro has a bold livery which equips the network for the coming years. With new trams on order and new stops opening, the future looks bright... blue!

Colour for the Commonwealth

With Birmingham hosting the 2020 Commonwealth Games, a bright, bold colour scheme was just what the city needed. With blue trams and red buses, the TfWM inner-city look is complete. No longer is the West Midland's transport second best to the rest of Britain, with its dynamic new style, it now reflects the vibrant, cosmopolitan, eclectic culture the region generates and celebrates.

TfWM has big plans for its transport future, with the potential of 'rapid transit' buses joining the 'Metro' brand before the Commonwealth Games arrive. An adaption of the tram livery has already been designed, and should be fitted to these new vehicles, spreading the bright, blue, bold Metro brand further across the West Midlands, towards Digbeth, Solihull, Birmingham Airport, Coventry and beyond.
